EcoFloral Zenith

August 1 - September 13, 2025

EcoFloral Zenith is a fusion of sustainability, innovation & collective creativity conceived, designed & facilitated by artist Tarcila de Figueiredo Neves with sculptural assistance from artist Dave Clode, that transforms recycled materials into a meaningful artistic installation, showing how everyday objects can be repurposed into something extraordinary.

EcoFloral Zenith is a sculptural pyramid-like installation built from repurposed wooden crates & recycled wine boxes. Tarcila has painted the base layer of the installation with bold, colourful depictions of local nature & wildlife as inspiration for members of the community to take the next steps & paint the remaining boxes during Community Activations on weekends throughout August. Once participants paint these 'building blocks', they were added to the structure. Over the course of the month, the piece grew & come to life before our eyes.

The already dynamic sculpture included an augmented reality (AR) component to be explored using your phone. When activated, animations, sounds & music appeared around the sculpture. The experience was designed to be accessible: audio descriptions help people with visual impairments enjoy the art through sound; movement & music support engagement for those with neurodiversities. The interactive format invites everyone to experience the sculpture in their own way—visually, sonically & emotionally.

This exciting art project merged visual art with technology to create an interactive experience that inspires creativity, discussions on repurposing waste & how tech can enhance art, all while connecting community through art making.

EcoFloral Zenith debuted Friday, August 1 to the public with artist Tarcila Neves, who shared her inspirations & artistic process. The first community artists painted the installation's 'building blocks'.

Community Collaboration Events

Every weekend in August, the community was invited to be a part of the creative process & help EcoFloral Zenith come to life by painting their favourite, plants, animals, local scenes, hope & dreams onto the repurposed boxes. Every few weeks the completed blocks were added to the sculpture, growing into an over 6 feet tall multicoloured beacon of joy on the waterfront.

Augmented Reality Experience

As EcoFloral Zenith grew, Neves would animate the community's artwork for the augmented reality feature. This incredible application of technology to the artwork pulled characters & images off of the blocks into the air around the sculpture - dancing, twirling & flapping wings once visitors held their phone to a nearby qr code. Music & the sound of gentle ocean waves accompanied the lively animations alongside narration from Neves. Entranced visitors could record video of the AR experience, capturing themselves & loved ones in a unique scene that combined the beauty of the area with the artwork of the community.
